Pep: Liverpool draw one of the proudest days of my career

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said his team's 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday was "one of the proudest days of my career as a manager."

City, who came into the game on the back of a disappointing exit in the last 16 of the Champions League against Monaco in midweek, fell behind early in the second half when James Milner cooly slotted home from the penalty spot after Roberto Firmino had been brought down.

The home side pressed hard for the equaliser though and were duly rewarded Sergio Aguero tucked home a low cross from Kevin De Bruyne with 20 minutes remaining.

Both sides had chances to win the game late on but poor finishing meant the game ended all square, although that did not put a damper on Guardiola's spirits.

The former Barcelona and Bayer Munich mentor told Sky Sports after the game: "You cannot imagine. This is one of the proudest days of my career as a manager.

"After our defeat in the Champions League, for two days we were so, so sad and in the training sessions we didn't talk too much.

"We arrive here against Liverpool, who haven't had European football all year and had all week to prepare for that game, and how we fight and how we run and how we showed spirit - today is one of the happiest days of my life as a manager.

"The way we play, we concede chances but we create a lot of chances. Like all matches, we create more chances but this is our problem, our problem is we don't score goals."
